Local Artists Support The Troops at Maxwell’s

12/06/2006 Update:

Maxwell’s expresses their gratitude for the successful benefit this past Monday:

On Monday, Dec. 4, Maxwell’s hosted a benefit for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, a leading veterans advocacy group, and Homes for Our Troops, a grass roots organization dedicated to building handicap accessible homes for severely wounded veterans. Both organizations are non-profit and non-partisan.

Local musicians donated their time and talent for a small door donation and twenty eight artists donated over fifty pieces of original artwork with 100% of sales to benefit these two organizations.

We are two-thirds of the way to our goal. So far, almost $2,000 has been raised and the art sale will conclude when the last piece is sold off the wall.

We’d like to thank all the musicians, artists, and the community for actively and generously supporting the troops. For more information go to www.IAVA.org, www.homesforourtroops.org and www.maxwellsnj.com.

On Monday, Dec. 4 at 7pm, Maxwell’s will be hosting “Artists For IAVA”, an evening of art and music to benefit IAVA: Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, a leading veterans advocacy group, and Homes For Our Troops, a grassroots organization dedicated to building specially adapted housing for vets with serious disabilities and injuries.

In this season of giving, works by 25 local illustrators, photographers, designers and painters will be for sale, with all proceeds benefiting stateside soldiers and veterans. In the backroom, “a Dave Calamoneri Joint” will feature some of the areas most prolific and progressive voices of the singer/songwriter genre, along with special guests and speakers.

A small donation is suggested. Maxwell’s is located at 1039 Washington St. in Hoboken.

Items for sale through the 24th of December. See flyer below.
