Hot & Steamy Saturday
Hoboken gets wet for a while; free fireworks
Tornado Watch Canceled – brutal heat & humidity for Saturday, though…
The brunt of our recent summer thunderstorm was to the north – But at around 9pm, Hoboken got a taste of wetness, wind and lightning as mother nature exited stage right. Here’s a glimpse of what it looked like before the brief deluge:
I’d bet the tornado watch is over for the night – but I could be wrong.
Conditions ripe for stormy weather in Hoboken
The National Weather Service issued a Tornado watch until 1:00am Saturday morning. New Jersey Counties listed on the watch were Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren.
A tornado watch doesn’t mean a tornado is imminent, but rather conditions are ideal, and stormy weather may occur in the watch area. What you really need to be worried about is when a tornado warning has been issued – which typically means one has formed and been spotted.
How this affects tonight’s St. Ann’s Festival remains to be seen – nothing is visible on the radar at the moment, except for a large storm over northeast Pennsylvania heading east southeast.
Tomorrow, a heat advisory is in effect, with temperatures hitting the upper 90’s – with high humidity – making it feel like well over 100 degrees. Stay inside with your pal “Mr. AC,” or head to your favorite swimming pool.
I wonder if there was a real destructive tornado in town – would Cake Boss Buddy make a cake out of it?
Have a great weekend otherwise!
