Wii Summer Games 2010 at LSP
There are plenty of fans of the Nintendo Wii video game system here in Hoboken – and many bars even hold special “Wii Nights.” So this event starting tomorrow at Liberty State Park (or even your own living room) might be of interest to you!
What is Wii Games: Summer 2010?
It’s a nationwide competition that invites people of all ages and backgrounds to come together and enjoy the social fun of motion-control games for the Wii system. Nintendo is bringing the fun of Wii out of the living room and on the road, giving players and families across the nation a chance to participate in an organized tournament. Teams of two and four players will compete for the best overall score in a combination of five Wii games.
Wii Games: Summer 2010 competitions will include multiple qualifying events around the country this Summer and will culminate in a national championship event in Los Angeles. A large-scale Wii Games: Summer 2010 kick-off event will take place at New Jersey’s Liberty State Park on July 16 and will continue through the weekend. Qualifying events will also be held at Six Flags theme parks starting July 16, and at shopping centers across the country beginning July 23. The grand championship event will take place in Los Angeles Sept. 3-5.
What is the national championship event?
Wii Games: Summer 2010 culminates in a national competition September 3-5 in Los Angeles, CA. The top 90 teams from events across the U.S. plus 6 additional teams selected in the sweepstakes will battle it out for the championship.
What kinds of prizes will be awarded?
Ninety qualifying team winners and six online sweepstakes winners will be awarded a trip to Los Angeles to participate in the Wii Games: Summer 2010 national championships on Sept. 3-5. Prizes include cruises, home entertainment packages, Wii systems and games, trophies and write-ups in national publications.
