Heat advisory in effect in Hoboken
Note: Cooling Center Open at Wallace School (1100 Willow – between 11th and 12th).
At least you sweat toxins out, right?
Today is going to be one brutally hot day – but I like to look on the bright side. For one, my sweat glands are healthy – and I’m sure I’ll be ridding my body of harmful toxins in the process. If that isn’t enough – expect more transformer explosions and local power outages today as well. Joy.
Here’s the advisory from the National Weather Center:
HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 7 PM EDT TUESDAY…
THE COMBINATION OF TEMPERATURES OF 95 TO 100 DEGREES… ALONG WITH GRADUALLY INCREASING HUMIDITY LEVELS… WILL PRODUCE HEAT INDEX VALUES OF 100 TO 104 TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
A HEAT ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN HIGH HUMIDITIES ARE EXPECTED TO COMBINE WITH HOT TEMPERATURES TO MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS 100 TO 104 DEGREES FOR TWO CONSECUTIVE HOURS. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS… STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM… STAY OUT OF THE SUN… AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.
And don’t forget to take it easy on your dogs too! Lots of water, and shorter but more frequent walks!
