Update: Apparently no one was aboard.

25 Foot Cabin Cruiser Sinks; Occupants unknown

If you listen to the Hoboken411 Live Police and Fire Action Channel – or Follow Hoboken411 on Twitter – you’ve heard that there’s some marine action going on uptown near the 14th and 16th Street piers.

Apparently – a witness from Weehawken saw a 25′ Cabin Cruiser sinking and drifting towards Hoboken. The boat is now completely capsized. Hoboken and Jersey City Marine Units, as well as NYPD are on the scene investigating. According to witnesses, the boat was upright at 4pm – and only recently starting sinking. However, the last time occupants were witnessed on the vessel was a couple days ago.

At this point it’s unknown whether anyone was aboard – or in jeopardy.

This boat has yet to be removed from the Hudson. I’m curious if it could pose some sort of environmental threat? And, who would be responsible to remove the boat from the Hudson.
