Joe’s Prime Meats

If I ever had “political connection” to anything, it’d be to bacon and pizza, my two favorite things to eat.

Hoboken’s choices for a decent Bacon, Egg & Cheese sandwich has been dismal in my opinion, especially uptown. Recently, Turning Point opened, and offers a very tasty, but pricey egg sandwich. Little did I know that Joe’s Prime Meats also does breakfast sandwiches, and does them exceptionally well. A good value, and filling enough to make you skip lunch without a problem!

I proclaim Joe’s Prime Meats to be “King” of egg sandwiches. Eggs any way you want (I did scrambled today), plenty of bacon, and your choice of rolls. I prefer the soft rolls for breakfast, but if you really want a heavy sandwich, pick the Italian bread.

They’ve also updated their menu and cleaned up the interior. Download Joe’s Prime Meats menu here (PDF).

Joe is also particularly proud of his Philly Cheese Steak, made with Prime Rib Eye. “They may have invented it, but we perfected it” he writes on the menu. That’s next for me. Has anyone tried that yet?

Lastly, two other things to note: You can get your Fresh Thanksgiving Turkey from Joe’s (must order by Friday), plus they have what seems to be a delicious Lobster bake too!

I’ve noticed many people complaining that there isn’t a good fish market since Acipella’s downtown closed.
Did you know that Joe’s Prime Meats now sells fresh fish? Go check it out as an alternative to leaving Hoboken.

Truglio’s is excellent. The two brothers do a great job.
Top quality plus solid recommendations when you aren’t exactly sure what you want to eat.

Always important to support the local businesses.

I have to agree about Truglio’s being the best. They are an old-fashioned butcher shop with guys that really know their business. They are always courteous and friendly and have top-shelf beef, lamb, pork and poultry. The only cavaet with Truglio’s (as stated by ownedby3) is that you should give them some lead time if you want something special since it is not practical for them to keep certain items in stock. Also, make sure you bring cash because they don’t take credit or debit.

Truglio’s Meats on 10th and Park has by far the best meats in Hoboken. They get their meats from all the same place most of the top restaurants in NYC get their meats. I get filet mignon, porterhouse steaks and sausage from there, their ribs are amazing. You can always call ahead and he can order anything that he may not have. Joe the owner knows what he’s doing. Check them out if you haven’t already.
