Parked Cars and Thunderstorms
6/3/2010:
A little Hoboken afternoon update for ya’ll…
Parked Car struck not once, but TWICE in five minutes
About an hour ago, near the intersection of 3rd and Washington – a parked car with the NJ license plate SBL-76Y (who Hoboken Police said was “improperly parked”) – was struck twice within a five minute span. First, by a NJ car (RFS-48A), then by a truck (AM408N).
Don’t you think some east/west streets in Hoboken are just a bit TOO narrow to have parking on both sides? Some are hard enough to make turns on – imagine trying it when cars are parked too close to the intersection? Certain streets should only have parking on one side (like the stretch of 9th St. between Clinton and Willow).
Here’s a graphic for those who are illiterate:
Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8pm
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for our area until 8pm tonight. Someone is getting wet. Will it be Hoboken?
People would complain about the parking being taken away. They should start by putting bollards near the corners to prevent idiots from parking on the corners.
I did a job at newark airport weather bureau in the 80’s the “weathernan”on duty had us laughing so hard our sides hurt. It happened to be raining and he dragged us over to the radar and said see no rain, look out the window its pouring and guess what I have to report– it’s clear out. He had a whole routine we felt he was going to retire and take his show on the road. He also told us that he never never tells anybody that he is a weatherman, because of the verbal abuse he gets from people they blame him for everything. When asked what do you do for a living, he answers i’m a janitor.
Being a weatherman or woman is the only job where you can be wrong most of the time and still keep your job? I see blue skies everywhere.
Tornado “Watch” in effect….
Another Possible Tornado Day from PA to New England
TORNADOES POSSIBLE PA TO NEW ENGLAND….
Storm over western New York will track northeast today and be over Portland, ME by this evening. Locations in the notice of the low where warm front and cold front come together are in the zone for possible severe storms including tornadoes. The current tornado threat across western and central PA will move east into easter PA, eastern New York and New England. Best shear will go from central PA this morning to Northeast PA by early afternoon and western New England by later afternoon.
Threat with the storms will be for wind damage and a few tornadoes. I expect over a dozen tornadoes to occur during the next 12-16 hours (8am currently).
