1907 Yankee Ferry back in the day

[Continuing the ORIGINAL Hoboken411 “Photo of the Day” series…]

Hoboken Photo of the Day – 5/29/2010

As you may already know – the 1907 Yankee Ferry uptown has had some interesting things happen lately – most notably the Polka Dot Garden that owners Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs unveiled during their Open Boat Tour last weekend.

I spotted this photo hanging on the wall inside, which shows the Ferry in its better days. I didn’t ask – but judging by the attire of passengers, I’m guessing 60’s or early 70’s. Interesting stuff you can’t find online.

PS – if you have images collecting dust on your camera or hard drive – send them in for eventual inclusion on Hoboken411! Please state how you’d like to be credited in your email, and a description – if desired!!

It would be a treat for the town if this boat could operate as a charter or tour boat. You can not find a Hoboken boat that will whisk you around the waterways or do a dinner cruise. The boat is gorgeous and day trips around the city and up the Hudson would give Hobokenites and people from afar something to do on the weekends.
