Domino’s new pizza: Verdict?
Domino’s re-vamped pizza formula – hype or real?
Even if you watch as little TV as I do (still haven’t caught the last eight hours of “24”) – you can’t help but catch a commercial for the New Domino’s Pizza recipe.
For die-hard pizza-lovers like Hoboken411, ordering from Domino’s usually only happens in a pinch, or if you’re in the mood for that taste. Hey – it’s edible, and cheap if you have a good coupon. Plus – they have a nifty pizza tracker online, which no other Hoboken Pizza place has.
Either way, after seeing the commercials, I had to try an order.
I used one of the “Any two medium two-topping pizzas for $5.99” coupon, and placed an order for extra robust sauce and onions. The order was promptly delivered in about 30 minutes.
While Domino’s claims that “it’s a completely new pizza from the crust up” – and that may be entirely true – it still tastes very similar to the old Domino’s pizza. If you blind-folded me without telling me it’s the new Domino’s pizza, I’d still stay “it’s Domino’s.”
However, that’s not saying the recipe hasn’t been improved. I still think the cheese is rather sub-par – but the sauce did get better by one notch, and the garlic-seasoned buttery crust was tasty, but definitely felt heavier – like the calories increased substantially (I don’t even want to know.)
Have you tried the new Domino’s Pizza Recipe? Was it worth waiting 50 years?
