Youth Hockey is great!
Hockey provides great life lessons
Hoboken411 reader Scott wants to share some information about a great youth hockey program over in Jersey City. He says Hoboken is very well represented – and that tryouts are starting again NEXT weekend! Get your kids in shape and head over!
Did you know about the Jersey City Capitals?
“The Jersey City Capitals have just completed one of the most successful seasons in their more than thirty year history, highlighted by two state championships and a winning record at every level. Dozens of Hoboken families are involved in the organization, which offers a very affordable “Learn to Skate” clinic and teams for kids age 7 to age 14. The Capitals consistently draw high marks for coaching philosophy, practice time, and overall club value.
Good organizations build from the bottom up, and given the Capitals success this year the future looks exceptionally bright. The youngest team (the Mites) went 11-4-1 in league play, and won the state playoff tournament in overtime. Leading the eight year old and under Mites were Hobokenites Blake Jacey, Kerry Neville, Zack Oswald, and Hudson Poreda. At the Squirt level (ten year old and under), three boys from Hoboken (Thomas Jandora, Patrick Keenan, and Tyler Kinney) were instrumental in guiding the squad to an undefeated 15-0-1 mark and the state championship. Not to be outdone, the Peewees (12 and under) posted a 14-3-1 mark on the way to their second consecutive league championship. Representing Hoboken on the Peewee team were Max Carty, Riley Conlin, Christopher Jandora, Cristiano Kusner, and Max Wilkins.
