Liberty Humane Society Events…
Whether you’re a pet owner, soon to be pet owner, or just love animals in general, here are some upcoming events sponsored by the Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City.
April 17th and 24th: Adopt!
Join LHS and FOCAL for adoption day at Secaucus Petsmart! Every Saturday from 11am to 3:30pm, adoptable cats & kittens (and a doggie or two) are located in front of the Pet Hotel or training area of the store. Volunteers are on hand to answer general questions about the shelter, adoptions, and volunteering. Join us and find a new adoptable friend!
April 18th: Pet Owners Day!
This is for the thousands of Jersey City residents that read Hoboken411 daily: Pet Ownership Day is taking place in your lovely city in front of City Hall (280 Grove St.)
Affordable Rabies Clinic, Nail Clippings – and even low cost microchip installations! Too bad we don’t have one of these in Hoboken. Nope, the best our city can do is chase dog poopers and hand out $250 tickets.
April 20th: Guest Speaker!
Please mark your calendars for this very important event! Nathan Winograd, critically acclaimed author of Redemption: The Myth of Pet Overpopulation and the No Kill Revolution in America and of Irreconcilable Differences: The Battle for the Heart and Soul of America’s Animal Shelters, will provide a two-hour presentation on animal sheltering issues; animal protection legislation at the state and local levels; and on No Kill programs in both urban and rural communities.
This presentation is free to attend, thanks to a generous grant from the John and Wendy Neu Foundation. But, space is limited to 200 so please register early. To register, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Book signing, light refreshments and networking will follow immediately.
Both of Nathan’s books will be on sale at the event, or you can bring your own copy to be signed.
