“Green jobs”, while perhaps not the best moniker, have always been a goal of the environmentalist movement. Whether it be in high-tech alt-energy arena, low carbon mass transportation or low energy architecture – to name a very few – the direction of the movement has always been toward a commercial, agricultural and consumer synergy.

Unfortunately, due to incredible pressure by oil and gas industry and their traditional allies in Congress, the USA has not permitted its entreperneurs the full opportunity to develop green industries (tax incentives, loans, access to existing infrastructure). As a result, the europeans, Chinese and Indians have surpassed us so remrakably in green tech that most experts expect — for example — that any high speed, low energy trains used in the US will be purchased from the Chinese, an irony of the highest order when one considers the importing of tens of thousands of Chinese laborers to build the great railroads of 1800s USA.

4-15-10 TAX DAY 🙁

April 15, never a happy day to be sure, but it is interesting to note that — contrary to the lies of the right — middle class americans today pay taxes on only approximately 4% of their income, an historically low figure.

Of course when the costs of Bush’s Iraq war and his Medicare drug prescription law hit home, we will no doubt be paying more in the future. It is expected that even President Obama’s tax cuts will not be able keep our kids and grandkids from being eventually held responsible for the misdeeds of Bush, the Republican Party and its allies on Wall Street.

The hijacking of the environmentalist continues!

What happened to clean air, clean water, clean earth, and open spaces? How about conservation and stewardship of the land.

Green Jobs? What a freaking pyramid scheme…
