Luxury SUV Parking Offender
Does a $120k car make it OK?
If you look at the archived posts from the “Parking Offenders on Film” category here on Hoboken411 – you’ll notice that a majority of the entries were contributed by one of the many residents living in town.
Today’s entry is no exception. I’ve received quite a few emails from readers about this $100k+ silver Mercedes G-Class SUV parking “wherever they want” and “does that Official Business placard entitle them to violate parking rules?” and a bunch more. But none of these readers ever included images (doesn’t everyone have a cell phone camera these days?)
Either way – I snapped a photo on the way downtown earlier this week to “put a name to the face” so to say. Frankly, other than being beyond that fabled “white line” on the yellow curb, it didn’t seem to be blocking the crosswalk too badly. Not sure about the other times the readers were referring to.
I suppose the logical questions anyone would ask:
- Does the work Realtors do qualify as “Official Business” in Hudson County?
- Do these permits provide for extra special “courtesy” from HPD?
- If so, how can I get one? I do important stuff too!
- Oh and take a look at the Hudson County Freeholders last meeting agenda for kicks – lots of County money being doled out, for roads, and a million other projects – Hoboken is mentioned twice. $80 grand for a consulting contract for an intersection traffic light on Harrison Street – (c’mon! I’d do it for half that amount!) – and $100k for a Resolution approving a contract with the New Jersey Institute for Technology’s (NJIT) Center for Information Age Technology (CIAT) for records management… Hmmmm. Maybe 411 should start covering those meetings?
Meh – the whole parking situation in Hoboken is a complete debacle from top to bottom. I suppose I’d rather the HPD provide courtesy to residents and business owners – since they’re the true pulse of the city. However, keep the City Offender Zone pictures coming! Our non-emergency city personnel should know better.
