Inside N. Korea Film Screening

Interesting film screening tonight at Our Lady of Grace (enter near 5th and Willow).

Liberty in North Korea

On Tuesday, March 16th, Hoboken hosts LiNK (Liberty in North Korea) for the free screening of a National Geographic documentary called “Inside North Korea,” made by Lisa Ling (field correspondent for Oprah and sister of Laura Ling, one of the 2 American journalists recently detained in North Korea). LiNK exists to share with the world the human rights violations currently taking place in North Korea and to empower people to take action. As part of LiNK’s Spring Screening Tour, the Hoboken screening of the film is sponsored by Hoboken Grace. The screening will be at 422 Willow Ave, on March 16th at 8pm. Light refreshments will be provided. This is a great opportunity to learn about North Korea and raise awareness here in Hoboken!

This looks very interesting. I wish I knew about it sooner. Probably won’t be able to make it on short notice.

I hope some people will be mildly curious and attend this viewing. Some people I talk to have trouble finding Korea on a map, and know almost nothing of how the DPRK got the way it is. Sadly, liberty in North Korea will never be a reality until the current regime is toppled and reunification occurs, although that seems unlikely to occur in my lifetime.

If you’re interested in this type of stuff I would highly recommend watching the 3 part Vice Guide to North Korea on the VBS TV website here:

I found it to be a lot more interesting than the National Geographic special.
