International Purim at the Elks Club
Purim at the Circus
For those who aren’t religious much these days – be aware that this Sunday, February 28th is a Jewish Holiday called Purim, a “Celebration of Jewish deliverance as told in the Book of Esther. After the destruction of the Kingdom of Judah, the Jews were taken into the seventy-year Babylonian captivity. When ancient Persia took control, Haman, royal vizier to King Ahasuerus, planned to kill the Jews, but his plans were foiled by Esther and Mordecai,” and many events will take place in Hoboken and wherever else Judaism is practiced.
“Chabad of Hoboken’s 8th annual “International Purim” will take place this Sunday, February 28th, 3 pm at the Elks Club, 1005 Washington Street.
This year’s circus theme will include a clown to entertain the kids with makeup, balloon shaping, magic and more; sushi, guacamole and an open bar just for the adults, concession stands with hot dogs, cotton candy and popcorn and a full buffet dinner with lots of delicious food. Megillah will be read and there will be live music and dancing.
An event for the entire family – don’t miss the party of the year!”
