What Next? (524 Washington Street)

[Continuing this week’s “What’s Next for Hoboken?” series here on Hoboken41…]

Banks on the decline in Hoboken

No need to get into specifics about why certain businesses are slowly on the decline in Hoboken – but I just noticed this HSBC branch at 524 Washington Street was done recently.

It’s a relatively pedestrian location – but still needs an exciting business to take it’s place.

What would work well here (considering the types of surrounding businesses)?

PS – this bank was so uninteresting – that it never even got an official entry here on 411!

nothing is next.. in my opinion hoboken has delayed alot of the effect of this great recession due to an abundance of its relatively young, well educated, mobile workforce. that said, the concentration of financial sector jobs are catching up on ole hoboken and i would imagine alot of empty storefronts for the forseeable future. for further evidence look at the rental market in town, it’s being decimated by my guess down 20-30% from the peak. its the worst kept secret out there right now along dawn zimmer & co’s complete inneptitude.
