pedestrian / bicycle struck by car

On the corner of Newark and Grand Street. This is and always has been an extremely dangerous corner, as you can remember a young woman was killed a few years back.

More details to follow if possible.

Update: It appears to have been a bicycle that was struck. But this is still a ridiculous corner. I feel they should elimate parking entirely on both sides of this corner for at least 100 feet.

A woman was hit on her bicycle and killed there probably 2 years back. (hobokenhottie, that is what you are remembering I think) That corner is so dangerous, I say they should build another highrise to obstruct the view even more!

Love the map!

What about diagonal parking across the street, none on the Dunkin Dounuts side, traffic going one way out of Hoboken. Sensor stop lights at the corners that turn onto Newark ie: Grand, Willow so traffic will be slow enough to utilize said spots and pull in/out? With a shallow enough diagonal, say 35 deg, the road may be able to afford space for a bike lane also on the D&D side, that whole strech of road can be converted to the diag. parking. I would also put up a cement highwawy barrier to protect said bikers in stretches where this is feasible. That way parking will increase, the trafifc will slow and we call be happy and make cupcakes and frolic in the park. It’s been a long time since I’ve driven there (5 years), hell, I don’t even remember the last time I went over that far, so I’m speaking from a purely pedestrian point of view just viewing the map.

Funny how in the map it looks like a car is about to hit the semi at the intersection we are speaking about…

What do you drivers think?
