Panera Bread
10/4/06 Update:
Apparently Panera Bread was closed on Wednesday due to unsanitary conditions caused by a sewage leak on the backside near Bloomfield Street. This included fecal matter. Board of Health shut it down until further notice (and they clean that shit up). Not sure how fast it will come back.

June 2006
I’ve heard mixed reviews of this place.
Tonights venue was Panera bread (for a business meeting). They have free Wi-Fi there, so it’s a great spot!
I quickly chose a 1/2 salad 1/2 sandwich combination, plus an iced green tea beverage.
I have to say this was overwhelmingly delicious! The salad (Asian Sesame Chicken) was perfect. Grilled chicken tossed with romaine lettuce, fresh cilantro, sliced almonds, sesame seeds, crispy wonton strips and reduced-sugar Asian sesame vinaigrette. I should have skipped the sandwich part and ordered a whole salad instead. I will remember this. Oh, I also heard good things about the steak salad as well.
The sandwich was the Italian Combo, roast beef, smoked turkey, ham, salami, Swiss cheese, pepperoncini, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and “special sauce”. It comes standard with Ciabatta bread, I chose the sesame semolina. That “special” sauce was zingy.
The iced green tea was a blast. Very refreshing! I will order many of those this weekend for sure!
I will come back to rate other selections on the menu, but my first “real meal” there was a winner.
Your thoughts?
Here are some photos of the interior (they have plenty of outside seating as well!!):
Who doesn’t love the Paneras? Absolutely delicious food – everytime I go I fall in love with a different sandwich. I recommend the Vegetarian and Mediteranian.
The jumper was not at Paneras. He was about 4 doors down on the North side of the street. It was the building next to the hardware store.
Damn. What a buzzkill.

I don’t know about the jumper, but that new revised decor made me depressed. That place used to be decent. Open, nice colors, lots of space to wander about. Now it’s like a cramped Denny’s.
Man, do I not like the new decor. Maybe it’s just me.
I think it’s cool.

Update, they got the guy down, but at least they set up the bubble cushion for him
You’d have to jump head first to do any damage off of the Panera roof.
After being stabbed.
