Hoboken411 reader Jonathan expresses concern about one of the numerous dumpy areas of the city – which are continually in a state of disarray!

The City is neglected in many areas!

“I am writing you today in regards to an area of severely unsafe sidewalk.

It’s 14th St. between Clinton & Grand on the north side of the viaduct. The sidewalk is in disrepair with various broken pieces, areas of upheaval and pockets, not to mention the garbage that is constantly strewn. When it rains a lot (like this week), much of the sidewalk is flooded with puddles and unwalkable. When it rains/snows in the winter and the water freezes it is dangerous because it is mostly ice.

With the opening of the new theatre and increased traffic flow, there is bound to be slips and falls with numerous injuries. The 14th St. roadway in that span is also in horrendous shape and floods to the point of being a pond. The very first time in over a year I’ve seen street cleaning down that street was last week and that’s only because the theatre opened.

I’m writing you because I’ve already written to the city twice and have had no response. I’m sorry I don’t have pictures, but just head down to that area and you’ll see it. Any publicity on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and keep up the good work!”

I hope they keep the cobblestones after the reconstruction.

At this time Zimmer is the Mayor..The balls in her court. Time to voice our complaints to her in regard to street repairs. How in the world did she lose out on the flooding grant? If this is glimmer of the future..No thanks..

The problem is the buttheads in charge dont have the courtesy to respond. Yes, 14th st is a county road….They have allocated 20 million (about) to rebuild underneath and reconstruct the entire 1939 viaduct—-believe it starts this year———-But that is no excuse for the powers in charge at city hall not to answer folks concerns—-just answer the question—-folks shouldnt get their answers from the Hoboken411 rumor mill/website——-not a slur against website—but if the class (citizens) answers their own questions why have a teacher
aka city hall employees–truth is many of them probablky dont know the answer—-shame—a real shame—-Just like Jefferson Street —anybody aware that it goes thru and was cutoff in the 60’s for the Henkel Co at 13th st—open it—-why not??? they dont know why not!!! Look over the fence—there is a street in there

I’m jealous. It might be a terrible sidewalk, but they have an empty parking lot! I live in the 4th where there’s terrible sidelwalks and no parking!

That’s a county road, isn’t it?
