Starbucks VIA Ready Brew

Strong Coffee anytime, anywhere

Without doing illegal drugs, running 411 requires that you need to be a caffeine addict – at least for me. In the past year or so, I’ve reversed my previous hatred for Starbucks (because I quit the artificial sweetener) – and now hit them up several times a week when I’m in need of a late-night boost.

I’ve noticed them promoting this new VIA Ready Brew – and got a chance to sample it last night. It’s basically a little pack of “micro ground” coffee that you can put in any 8oz. of water (hot or cold).

I have to say it’s a pretty close match to a fresh brewed cup of coffee – was quite impressed. Costs $3 for a 3-pack, and $10 for a 12-pack. A bit costly, but still cheaper per ounce than hot coffee (yeah, because you’re not getting a cup & lid). I’d consider buying these if I could get a 100-pack for around $39 or so.

Give it a try and see for yourself!

I picked a 3 pack up today, haven’t tried it yet though.

I actually like Via ready brew. Only thing is, I think it is priced a teeny bit high – so it is sort of neither here nor there. People who like a good cup of coffee are going to pay a little more for the real thing, and people who make versus buy coffee to save money will likely find Via to be too expensive. But it is definitely a good thing to have on hand in an emergency, as Gloria said.

Even though it is instant, it tastes a lot better than the average coffee, and certainly better than other instant coffee.

Tried it today myself. Very good idea for emergency coffee in a bind. Helps to have milk and sugar nearby though.
