Delfino’s Pizzeria

Delfino’s Pizzeria closed for renovations (till 1/31)

Forgot to mention this – but after we announced that Delfino’s Pizzeria had secured their lease – they closed and began their complete renovation of the restaurant.

They will be closed till at least the end of January 2016 while the re-vamp the interior.

Hopefully, this doesn’t translate into higher costs for the same portions – as is often the case when a business invests heavily in upgrading their business. Time will tell I guess!

Delfino’s Pizza – Italian Pizzeria & Restaurant

12/17/2015 Update:

A quick update for Delfino’s Pizza here in Hoboken.

Last weekend we wondered that since the building was being gut-renovated – what the future of Delfino’s pizza was going to be. Well, it looks okay!

They sold the building (smartly so), and secured an additional 10 year lease for the pizza restaurant. So that is good news for those who get sad when the little pieces of Hoboken get stripped away.

Maybe a nice food order this weekend to thank them for staying put?

I recently stopped in to Delfino’s for a slice. While waiting I watched the TV they had on with the news on. It was just me and a couple for the staff and a couple of customers in the restaurant. On the news came a story regarding the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. The homophobic comments the staff made aloud were so vile and offensive that I have decided to boycott Delfino’s and will suggest to all of my friends to do the same. I certainly have no problem with others having their own views but to verbalize it in a place of business and not knowing who is around to hear, is unacceptable.

This place is one of the few old-style Hoboken gems. Perhaps not for take-out, though—have never done that, so can’t speak to the disgruntlement noted above.

Delfino’s is best experienced by going there. The escarole & bean soup is wonderful & cheap, for the huge portion. The special small pies, too—especially the white pie with broc. rabe.

While the calamari salad used to be delicious, it’s not been so great, the past few times I’ve ordered it. Perhaps the seafood distributor….

Still, I love this place. The atmosphere is so bad, it’s good—all the cheesey pics of media mobsters. Including a few locals….

I’ll always remember eating there with friends visiting from London, the night Sinatra died. A bunch of diners were old-timers who had known him here. Lots of wonderful anecdotes shared. oaded wiLth memorable local color—especially entertaining for out-of-town guests.
This place is a scam. We use to order from here all the time. Everytime it was a different price? Not sure if the delivery person adds money to the order but $2-3 dollars adds up. Buyers Beware!
I’ve never had that problem and we order enough that the guys recognize my voice on the phone. I call it in, my husband picks it up on his way home from the PATH, almost every Friday night.

Maybe you should call and tell them about the price problem, maybe their delivery person is padding the bill and the only way to stop that is to draw his employer’s attention to it.
