Cake Boss has long lines

It’s because he’s on the TV box!

I’ve received quite a few emails and photos from Hoboken411 readers recently – about the continual lines that wrap around the block over at Carlo’s City Hall Bake Shop. Even at 11am – right when they open! “His apparent television fame is attracting what I believe are mostly non-Hoboken residents who are star struck” said one reader after her bike ride this past weekend. While another reader said “They can’t be going there because of the delicious cake, I prefer the moist cakes at A&P, much better. Although Buddy sure is King at making those creative cakes!”

I wonder if “Cake Boss” Buddy would ever consider having a “priority line” for residents who can show proof that they live in Hoboken.

In the 70’s they were on Adam’s street. I remember Buddy’s Dad, Mom and a grandmother. Those were the days. Even if you wanted to have a three dollar brownie the lines are crazy ! Who has time for that! Its too bad oh well like the other writes suggest there are plenty of places to try.

I used to go for their pignoli cookies which were excellent and their cannoli’s. No more. Too bad – they were family favorites. I tried Crumbs for Thanksgiving and they were great. Checking out Sweet next.

Yep. Being on TLC just makes most just want to touch themselves, apparently.

Carlos? No one goes there anymore. It’s too crowded.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Yes, a classic tragedy of success. God knows what their rate card is even like now, must be “if you gotta ask, then……..” prices. They have a license to print money now.
