Reader Mail: Trinity – The sky is falling!
A Hoboken411 reader wants to share a scary incident that happened at Trinity Bar (306 Sinatra Drive) last Thursday.
Debris falls – barely a care!
“I’m writing this email in the hope that I can get my message across to the many people who patronize Trinity.
My husband, daughter and I went for cocktail hour last Thursday with some other moms and their husbands and babies in tow. We sat outside enjoying each other’s company while our babies slept soundly in their strollers. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, a large screen window came flying down from above and hit my husband in the head and another one of the husbands in the arm. It appeared that the screen hit the edge of one of the strollers and landed right in front of my daughter. She, of course, was shaken, became hysterical and needed to be consoled immediately.
While I was comforting her, we noticed that her leg was bleeding. Completely outraged, my friends attempted to get the manager. After waiting for 10 minutes or so, the manager finally came out only to say that she would “comp the drinks.” She never asked if my daughter, or anyone else for that matter, was okay.
And to make matters worse, the busboy proceeded to tell us that this had happened in the past!
What angers me is not only that the management at Trinity handled the situation badly (after leaving to attend to my daughter, the manager said she wasn’t going to lose sleep over the situation), but also that the management of the building would re-install the window screen so that it fell out more than once. I am thankful that my daughter and everyone else are okay, but it could have been so much worse. Date of incident 7/30/09.”
Initially – I asked her if she contacted the Hoboken Police to file an official report (important when dealing with issues like this) – and if she’s contacted the Applied Companies – since it’s essentially their problem, and not Trinity’s.
She responded: “I did go to the police station to file a complaint but they advised me to go through the buildings department at City Hall. I’m going to be doing this on Monday as it was pretty late when I went to the police station on Friday. It’s funny that the building is under Applied. We live in the Shipyard, also under Applied Mgmt. I’ll also be contacting them on Monday.”
When I get her response of what has transpired – I’ll update this post accordingly!
