Anthology Closes at 704 Washington in Hoboken

Open as little as a few weeks ago, ladies clothing and accessory shop Anthology over at 704 Washington St. has closed.

The sign in their window says that the “lease was up” and that “we will be relocating.”

It also suggested that people check out their online boutique (which had nothing on it).

That would be great for ladies if they were relocating in Hoboken, but perhaps there was a purpose to the ambiguity?

99% of the time people know far in advance that their leases end. Don’t you think they would have scoped out a new location a long time ago as to avoid any lapse in sales?

Dunno, doesn’t matter much to us – because we’re not into wearing dresses and stuff.

11/07/2006 Update:

Finally replacing J&J cleaners, Anthology had their soft opening today. They plan to have a more formal grand opening in the upcoming weeks, along with a party!

This is owner Melissa DeFalco’s (who’s brother is Phil DeFalco, CPA on Washington St.) second Anthology store in New Jersey. The original store is in Westfield. You can also shop online at

Managing the young and contemporary clothing shop will be Jennifer DeFalco, Melissa’s sister. They are providing Hoboken with stylish clothing that’s not overly trendy, and at reasonable price points. The shop is well laid out, and contains lots of ladies and mens merchandise to choose from. They also plan to bring kids clothing in the Spring of 2007.

They are also looking for help! Both part-time and full-time positions available. Contact if you’d like to set up an interview.

Took five months, but we have what appears to be another clothing store going up: Anthology.

They apparently cleaned up and got rid of this business. One down, 62 left.
Sign in window says “Pick up swan cleaner”. I wonder who wrote that?

Anyone want to make predictions what comes here next? R. Fiore is laughing his way to the bank once again!

How could you possibly think their service is horrible!!! The girls in there are great and always help me find the perfect outfit. And they are very honest too; they will tell me which item looks better, even if it is the less expensive one. I love shopping at Anthology, it’s definitely my favorite place in town!

This shop is stocked high with a strange mix of product. Some higher end lines and then a odd mix of pieces that one could find on the streets of Chinatown for 1 dollar. Above all, the product in Anthology is ok at best but the service is absolutly horrible.

They have really cute things and for the most part inexpensive. The customer service when you’re buying something is great but when it comes to returning something…forget it. You’ll have to put up a good fight to return anything…even something thats damaged so be sure to check everything twice over before purchasing!

I’ve been to their store in Westfield. Trendy stuff, but generally good quality brands. If I recall, the prices range from reasonable to “who would pay that much for a t-shirt?”?

I’ll check this place out once – hope they sell shirts more affordable than the other stores in Hoboken I never return to – $80 for a shirt? Ha!
