Shiny new NJ Transit Buses!

5/28/2009:

That “new bus” smell…

Many residents complained about the 126 Buses that NJ Transit was running in Hoboken – from shoddy ride – to sweltering heat.

Lo Behold – Brand New High Tech buses to the rescue! Well-lit, modern – and they even talk!

I haven’t ridden one yet – how are they?

To veer slightly off topic- wouldn’t you think it would be a good thing for NJT to promo improvements like this on their web site?
Of course, it would be an even better if they posted route maps that actually told you where you might end up and when, rather than being as geographically clueless as the Vignelli subway map, with none of the ’70s graphic charm.

I hope that the new seats don’t speed into an ass-smell.

What they need….is a duck tour bus…so we dont have to wait in the Lincoln Tunnel line anymore.

Did the old buses light up the street like that?

Most of the buses have lights that go on when the doors are opened/while boarding is going on. I’m not sure why those are on when it seems to be pulling away from the curb.

The large coaches they’ve been using as a stand-in for the last year or so do – the lights stay on for something like a minute after the doors are closed. The usual urban transit buses (like this one) don’t have those lights.
