Hobokenpix: Do you like Zotz Candies?

[Continuing the ORIGINAL Hoboken411 “Photo of the Day” series…]

Hoboken Photo of the Day – 5/27/2009

I can’t recall the last time I had Zotz Fizzing “Power Candies” before I became hooked again, but now that I’ve discovered that The Candy Shoppe (59 4th Street) sold them I’m in trouble! The best hard candy ever!

zotz candy at the candy shoppe in hoboken - Hobokenpix: Do you like Zotz Candies?

Zotz History

“The original Zotz Fizz Power Candies were introduced in 1968. Within one year they had quickly become the hottest selling kids candy in the business. What made Zotz unique was the flavored fizz center which kids found irresistible. Zotz is a high quality hard candy manufactured by G.B. Ambrosoli. G.B. Ambrosoli is wholly owned and operated by the Ambrosoli family, in Como Italy, since 1920.

Our new packages are designed to attract a whole new generation of Zotz customers. Our original Zotz customers now have children of their own, yet they remain loyal consumers. There are two different boxes of Zotz flavors; One box contains Lemon, Orange and Grape, the other has Cherry, Watermelon and Sour Apple. From 1968 to today Zotz continues to be the best selling fizz power candy in the United States.”

because that “fun dip” is queer?
i remember when that stuff first came out. was called Lik-a-stix…and it didn’t make sense because it was a lot of work to eat a pixie stix whick was cheaper. they changed the name when Nestle bought the company and now markets under Willy Wonka brand. and the company says that the sugar IS pixie stix.
tootsie rolls were made in Hoboken for a while and haven’t changed in almost 100yrs.
so how does that make me a “commie” ? or are you just talking out of your a$$hole again and wanted some attention?

There is a on line site called HOME TOWN FAVORITES that has all kinds of candy,if it still being made. It carries candy from all over the US and even some old brands and hard to find brands.

Fun Dip is fantastic. Zotz had a nice, straight fizz but I also really liked Pop Rocks. No Mikey jokes please.

What was the one that started out as a candy but ended up as gum?

I never had these. Fun Dip was my crack cocaine growing up, along with Sprees.

Whoever came up with the idea of dipping a sugar stick into flavored sugar deserves a Nobel Prize.
