Tomorrow night, at the Parks Performing Arts Center in Union City!
Among one of the honorees, is Chase Leyner, the founder of Hoboken Children’s Theater. She is well-loved by many families in Hoboken who have children who have performed in her productions (both through HCT and the Hoboken Charter School). See full press release of the event below.
The Park Performing Arts Center Proudly Presents Showtime 2009
The Showtime 2009 gala will be held on Thursday, May 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. At the historic Park Theater located at 560 32nd Street in Union City, NJ. This two-hour reception is an elegant evening planned with live music cocktail and hors d’oeuvres, followed by an award presentation honoring Frank Gero and Chase Leyner.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Frank Gero. The prestigious award will honor his long career of producing plays in both New York and London.
Frank has produced 15 plays in New York including Are You Now or Have You Ever Been?, On Golden Pond, Key Exchange, Extremities and The Miss Firecracker Contest. He also produced Timberlake Wertenbaker’s Our Country’s Good, which earned six Tony nominations in 1991, and a Drama Desk award for Best Foreign Play. Off-Broadway he co-produced David Mamet’s hit Oleanna.
Best Performance in a Leading Role will be presented to Chase Leyner. Chase, founder of Hoboken Children’s Theater, which began in August of 2003 with 8 children in one room. Last year her Summer Stage 2008 program had over 175 kids and took over an entire school building! The Hoboken Children’s Theater Company, made up of performers 8 – 22, has had 12 sold out seasons and her Performance Workshop class always has a waiting list.
Chase received her acting training with Sanford Meisner, William Alderson, Estelle Parsons and Sam Schacht, and dance training with The New Jersey Ballet, Academie de Danse de Monte Carlo and Skidmore College. She has worked in New York and regionally with Steppenwolf Company members, The Phoenix Theatre Company, Primary Stages, Ensemble Studio Theater and The Phoenix Second Stage that she created and produced for as well as acted in. She has appeared on Sex and The City, Law and Order, All My Children, One Life to Live, As The World Turns, and in several independent films.
