Hobokenpix: Alorna Coat Co. Sign

[Continuing the Hoboken411 “Photo of the Day” series…]

Hoboken Photo of the Day – 11/10/2008

While I was uptown snapping pictures of the traffic headache caused by yesterdays transformer problem – I thought it’d be a good idea to snap a picture of this Alorna Coat Co. sign/mural. You never know when this building will either burn down – or turn into condos! So let’s document it for historical record!

PS – if you have images collecting dust on your camera or hard drive – send them in for eventual inclusion on Hoboken411! Please state how you’d like to be credited in your email, and a description – if desired!!

Where Hoboken 411 meets The Wall Street Journal. 😛

ALORNA COAT CORP manufactures women’s, misses’, and juniors’ outerwear, and has approximately 50 to 100 employees, with annual sales of $5MM to $10MM. Sounds like there’s potential for a lot of overhead, especially during this financial crisis that is only getting worse. However, the silver lining is that the bottom line probably hasn’t gone too far below the radar, assuming that their workforce are illegal aliens being paid, tax-free under the table. In conclusion, I do not foresee Alorna going completely under, however in order to protect themselves from creditors, the co. may have to file for Chapter 11.
