11/4/2008:

Did anyone else notice the cool red and blue split lighting on the Empire State Building last night?

(Oh, and since they’ve installed those new lights – They can change it to any color – even orange for Halloween!)

Did anyone see South Park election episode? They were using dialog that McCain and Obama said the day before. But Stan’s dad was perfect. Spot on

“where are my pants? And my TV?”

The lighting system is very simple set up and it takes 2 men a full day to change the filters. There is a large storage area with 100’s 0f filters in many colors. Also it is not dangerous to change colors again simple. I was out on the ledge in the early 90’s and was awe stuck by the whole experience.

On May 15 the ESB had the colors of the Mets and Yankees for their subway series. North/South – Yankees, E/W – Mets.

Here’s a pic.
useless trivia, this was only the second time the Empire State Building’s four sides were lit up in anything but the same color. The first was for the start of the China Olympics over the summer when the sides were lit up in the colors of the olympic rings.
Actually, all through the China Olympics, the sides were different from each other in order to get flag colors of different participating nations.
Manolo- you’re more than welcome to submit a congratulatory Obama “reader mail” piece – I’d be happy to publish it.

The weeks leading to the election were quite hectic for me – and the 1000+ comments on the Live Election blog (and the *really* late night) – caused me to become immensely worn down yesterday… Cut 411 some slack!
So, did you ever decide?
