DeBaun Center celebrates its 10th anniversary

David Zimmerman, Executive Director of DeBaun Center for Performing Arts, is proud to be the host of DeBaun Center’s 10th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 5pm in the Bissinger Room, located on the 4th Floor of the Wesley J. Howe Center on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.

DeBaun Center for Performing Arts is celebrating 10 years of productions, ranging from theater to music to dance, and everything else in between, under its roof. The theater was dedicated the Grace. E. and Kenneth W. DeBaun Auditorium in a three-day celebration, October 15–17, 1998. So, it seems only appropriate to celebrate the anniversary 10 years later on that very same weekend.

Heavy hors d’oeuvres and an open bar with beer, wine, champagne and soda will be available all night long. Throughout the evening, live music from Michael Kooman, pianist, and Bandwidth, a student jazz/rock ensemble, will entertain guests. Also, DeBaun Center has invited past performers from the productions that have been presented over the last 10 years to sing throughout the evening.

Scheduled to appear are:

  • Joe D’Andrea performing “The Great Writer” from Snoopy!!!;
  • Robert Gonzales Jr. performing “Snoopy” from You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown;
  • Margaret Leone, Judith Moss and Kelly Nichols performing “I’m a Woman” from Smokey Joe’s Café;
  • Kelly Nichols performing “A Moment in the Woods” from Into the Woods.

After the performances from past performers, a multimedia presentation showing a “look back” at all of the different productions from the past 10 years will be shown to the guests. Then, the announcement of a new student award will be made. The award will be given to the undergraduate Stevens student who has impacted theater at DeBaun Center the greatest over the past year. This new award will join other existing student awards, such as the William Ondrick Music Award, the Thomas McCandless Music Award and the Yelena Petrovna Theater Award.

At the conclusion of the evening, all of the guests will be escorted to DeBaun Auditorium to enjoy the evening performance of The Secret Garden—A Concert Production, which begins at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the 10th Anniversary Celebration are $60 per person or $100 per couple. The ticket price includes the food, drinks, entertainment throughout the evening and admission to the evening performance of The Secret Garden. To purchase tickets, visit DeBaun Center’s ticketing site at Tickets can only be purchased in advance and will not be available at the door. Please join us on Saturday, October 18, as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary and usher in what is to be another 10 wonderful years!
