Letter: Hoboken Special Improvement District is total bullshit
More hidden taxes killing Hoboken. Like watching the Titanic sink in slow motion, except now it’s speeding up a bit. Grab your popcorn, as the Hoboken Special Improvement District is about to burst into flames!
Letter: Hoboken Special Improvement District is total bullshit“This was a pre-COVID item brought to the city council last year. Remember, the Hoboken city council doesn’t spend their money, they spend yours. So, at the fatal council meeting, they listened to Hanie and Washington street store owners plead for improvements to be made for business in a failing city.
The orchestrator was a Shylock in a cheap suit who skips around doing this like the fraud band leader in the Music Man play.
So, to allegedly “save” Hoboken retail (think Washington street) they voted to have a SID “fee,” seemingly geraniums in pots and colored banners would bring back the retail stores. One council lady made the mistake of openly calling it a tax during the discussion. All of her cronies quickly jumped on her with “NO! NO! NO! It’s not a tax!!” A Freudian slip if ever there was one.
Today, I am paying a five hundred dollar fee for this rip-off.
So are a great many others. Very, very many off of Washington Street as well! Even old ladies with tenants pay!
NOTE THIS: MY BILL SAY QUITE CLEARLY IT IS FROM THE HOBOKEN TAX DEPT! IT SAYS MAKE YOUR CHECK OUT TO CITY OF HOBOKEN TAX DEPARTMENT!
So who is kidding who?
And with all of the dire news due to coronavirus, just how are flowers on Washington street going to save the city?
They cannot and they never will.
These council member frauds should be ashamed of themselves. People are dying. Losing everything. Business and families falling apart BUT the City of Hoboken has the nerve to beat them down further with an asinine TAX BILL (THAT’S WHAT IT SAYS) for flowers and banners.
Michael Russo fought against it. Perhaps another did also, but the liberal queens on the council jammed it through.
They should all be tortured just like the many victims of COVID losses in Hoboken. They have no conscience, they don’t think. People can’t go to funerals, but Hoboken wants their pound of flesh.
Question: If there is a multi-million dollar shortfall in the city budget, how can they morally press people for their asinine beauty plan?
That is potentially criminal.
Hoboken is Coronavirus doomed! The USA is hurting all over. Yet, If I see one more news article, or film clip, that features the Elysian Cafe I think I will throw up.
The public should take legal action. Without researching, how is the Elysian Cafe NOT in with the SID group? What is going on behind closed doors? Why are they almost exclusively getting great news coverage, while all the other poor slobs, all over the rest of Hoboken, pay this ill-conceived TAX?
LET’S CALL IT WHAT THE BIIL SAYS ON TOP!
