Didn’t go, but heard that there was some “weirdness” surrounding the reappointment of Angel Aliceia (sp) to the housing authority – which was tabled at the last council meeting in order for the three newest council members to review his resume. At last night’s council meeting Zimmer put forward another candidate in a 3rd item on the consent agenda. As I mentioned, I wasn’t there so my information is second-hand. If, however, this information is accurate, this is somewhat disturbing and I hope someone will clarify. I am told that Councilwoman Zimmer apologized about not being able to get the resume to the rest of the council sooner, but she had just recieved it herself. First, a vote on Angel’s reappointment was taken and he was voted down in a 5-4 vote (Zimmer, Cunningham, Mason, Russo and Castelano voted against). Following there was a vote for this other person and, I believe, he may have spoken prior to the vote. This new person was voted in 5-4, same breakdown. Bicycle lanes are very much needed in Hoboken….I dont get it, everyone knows about the lack parking and the horrible drivers…riding a bike is an answer to these problems, but there are no bike lanes. I agree, pedestrians are impacted by drivers as well but at least they have sidewalks. When I ride my bike on the sidewalk (for safety), a beach cruiser by the way, at a reasonable speed I always catch looks from pedestrians. Bike lanes would alleviate part of the problem and kkeo bikes off the sidewalk. but given the choice between dirty looks and a cracked skull, i take the looks.

Bicycle lanes in Hoboken???? How about pedestrian lanes?

Where in the hell are they going to put these? Do you really think cars and cabs will not ride in these when there is a backup?

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
