9/11 Memorial Photos
I chose to reflect by myself about September 11th yesterday. Much to my surprise, the interfaith memorial at Pier A park wasn’t as politically involved, as a couple hundred (non-politician) residents gathered to be part of the service. They listened to various pastors, veterans and other speakers pay tribute to those who lost their lives on that fateful day.
Apparently, Mayor Roberts attempted to get some political traction out of the event (although there was no mention of the $4 million dollar bond plan – which is probably doomed.) In what may have been the same speech he memorized last year, he made a blunder saying “it’s been six years since the attacks” instead of seven. I was told the audience corrected the Mayor immediately. Perhaps he’s not good at math? If you can’t subtract 2008-2001 – how can we trust him to handle a multi-million dollar municipal budget? Jeez.
Anyway, here’s a quick reader-submitted photo gallery of the event.
