Can you do without supplements? {A real world test}

We’ve been taking varying amounts of vitamin and mineral supplements for EONS (it seems). But I questioned my beliefs the other day – and wondered “Can you do without supplements?”

Just the way most of the world we live in is a gigantic racket to suck money from our pockets – I began to doubt the authenticity of the “health food industry” myself.

What if all these studies and claims were just bogus? What if 90% of the pills you pay a premium for are just filler material? Can any of the benefits be attributed to psychosomatic results?

That is what I wanted to know.

30-day respite from supplements

As of this morning – we’re taking a full-on 30-day respite from each and every supplement we take (with the exception of a multi every other day, and Vitamin D daily).

I mean we’ve been taking all sorts of supplements to (supposedly) augment our diet, aid in weight management, and so on.

I have this sneaking feeling that I’ll feel exactly the same without taking any of them.

However, there are at least two concerns I have.

Two supplements we take – are those we actually notice when we stop (or run out of).

And those are:

  1. 5-HTP
  2. Hyaluronic Acid

5-HTP, we believe, aids our mood tremendously. “Calm, cool, and collected” is the best way I can describe it. I’ll see if conditions change doing without.

Hyaluronic Acid, to us, has been a Godsend when it comes to joint pain, stress, and so-on. We went from being in pain daily – to being able to walk 10 miles a day without any second thoughts because of this. Again, we’ll see if anything negative comes as a result of doing without.

But we will try our best to live without the supplements – and will report back in December.
