Evil Empire at Whiskey Bar

If you dig Rage Against the Machine, you’d love to swing by the Whiskey Bar this Saturday, July 26th to see the RATM tribute band Evil Empire.

“We had over 100 people at our show at Whiskey Bar back in May, and everyone is still raving about it! Check out one of the videos:”

Randomnly checked the show on Saturday night and DEAR LORD!! Saw a sign for a Rage tribute, and was like ‘what the F? seriously?’ Wasn’t sure what to expect when I heard there was a Rage cover band playing, but I was blown away along with everyone else in the place. I’ve seen the Sublime tribute, Tool, Pearl Jam, etc. and this one was right up there with them all and then some. Pure energy in there. Not an easy band to pay tribute to I would assume, but Saturday was a tour de force. Some of my favorite parts were ‘How I Could Just Kill A Man’ which was striaght up grooving and probably ‘Freedom’ which was absolutly, well…raging. If you get a chance, do yourself a favor and check these guys out, it really was some insanity in there.

This is Mike (the bassist) from Evil Empire. I’d just like to address the comments here.

Our singer has an unbelievable voice, which the video does not remotely do justice. But in general, I think a video can’t come close to capturing the energy of our shows. If you’re going to judge a video I would suggest watching Freedom on our MySpace http://www.myspace.com/evilempiretribute

We had 75 people confirmed at the door to see us at that show and then some, so there was over 100. In terms of whether people cared, all I can say is that after this show, and after our show yesterday at Whiskey, we received nothing but rave reviews. And not just “you guys are good” but stuff like “you guys are f’ing awesome” and “it felt like listening to the albums”.

Anyway, I actually agree that I shouldn’t wear Rage shirts at our shows 😳 and hope people will check us out and judge our authenticity and intensity for themselves.

1. At around the 1:30 mark, I think the singer began to tire out.
2. Bass player is wearing a Rage shirt. Don’t be that guy!
3. Besides the 2 guys in the front, seemed like no one cared.
4. 100 people in the bar? Where?
5. Friend’s band is playing the same show tomorrow, so I’ll witness this.
