Don’t go to college

Don’t go to college {good advice?}

WAY (way) back in the day – getting a further “education” beyond high school was the gold standard in terms of a person’s success. But in 2017 and beyond “don’t go to college” seems to be the right thing to do.

There are several reasons why college used to be the right choice:

  • affordable
  • gave you the edge with employers
  • higher initial wages and future income potential
  • lastly, a good solid education

Today? College seems like a bad choice. Reasons including, but not limited to:

  • costly, high debt
  • more indoctrination than education; too many social issues
  • A scarcity of jobs, most college graduates work in fast food or retail
  • Time wasted in school (typically five or more years) is time not used for building experience or skills

There are many other reasons. But things have changed dramatically. Technology plays one role, but it’s a fast moving target that only a small percentage can tap into.

The last couple generations have become profoundly dumber. Especially when it comes to fundamental skills that modern technology has replaced the need for.

Today’s electricians, plumbers, and carpenters are yesterday’s doctors, lawyers, and scientists.

Here’s a good video from Stephan Molyneux that elaborates more:
