Reader Mail: The Pigeon Snatcher
Here’s a “crazy story” from a Hoboken411 reader about a morning walk to the PATH.
I personally have never seen anything like they described, but maybe someone else can chime in if they have?
“My boyfriend was waking up first street to the PATH train this morning at 6:10am. A gray truck pulls up on the side of him and a very big guy with dreads jumps out. He starts rolling up his sleeves and mumbles to himself “Damn, I should have worn a short sleeve shirt”.
My boyfriend really don’t think much of it and kept walking. He decided to take a quick look back after he got to the other side of Garden St. At this point the man has grabbed a big fishing net attached to a pole and was crossing the street starting to walk up Garden. So my boyfriend stops and turns around to check this guy out. The guy takes a couple more steps and then scoops up a pigeon with a quick swipe of the net and starts to head up first towards my boyfriend. He now has his hand on the net so the pigeon cant get out. He is looking right at my boyfriend and says “What man its just business….” and proceeds to grab the things head and twist ….breaking its neck.
My boyfriend really didn’t know what to do at that point so he turned and kept walking. Now they are both walking up 1st near Buskers and my boyfriend sees him with the dead pigeon in one hand and the net in the other. He then scoops up another one and does the same. WTF!!!!!!!! . What does he do with these things??? It’s just business??? He must sell them!!!! He said he was driving a nice truck and had some decent clothes on. He must do ok for himself as a pigeon snatcher!!!”
