“The Center” Announces it’s 2008-2009 Season

hoboken-debaun-center-for-the-performing-arts-logo.jpgDavid Zimmerman, Executive Director of The Center for the Performing Arts, is proud to be the host of The Center’s 2008–2009 Season Announcement on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 8 p.m. at DeBaun Auditorium, Edwin A. Stevens Hall, 5th & Hudson Sts. in Hoboken, NJ.

This year’s Season Announcement will begin with presentations of The Theater Company productions from this past season. These presentations have always been a highlight of the evening, giving all who attend a recap at the performers and performances that made the previous season a success. hoboken-the-theater-company.gifIncluded in this year’s presentations are: The Theater Company’s one act Off the Beaten Path from the Hudson County One Acts Festival, featuring Cassidy DeSchryver and Paul Kazalski; “Cop Song” and “It’s a Privilege to Pee” from Urinetown, the musical, featuring Mark Dunn, Leo da Silva, Emily Beatty, Bridget Dunn, Nicole Spano, Laura Yoder and Sarah Smith; a scene from A Christmas Carol, featuring Benjamin Holmes as “Scrooge”; “Notice Me, Horton” and “Alone in the Universe” from Seussical, featuring Leo da Silva, Laura Yoder and Leah Greenhaus; and, a scene from the touring production of Free to Be…You and Me. The presentations of the previous season will end with a “look back”, narrated by Zimmerman, as The Center celebrates its 10 year anniversary.

Next, Zimmerman will announce this year’s recipient of the Robert Reed Service Award. The award is given to a person or organization that has given of themselves unselfishly to support the staff and the mission of The Center for the Performing Arts at the Grace E. and Kenneth W. DeBaun Auditorium. Past recipients include Margaret Leone, Gerald P. Zalewski, David Vincenti, Warren Wells and A. Joseph Schneider. This year the award will be personally presented by Robert Reed, for whom the award is named.

new-jersey-theater-alliance-logo.gifFinally, the event concludes with the announcement of the 2008–2009 season of The Center, which includes the Spoken Word Series, Music Series, Special Events and the highly anticipated upcoming season of The Theater Company, the resident production company of The Center. Included with the announcement of The Theater Company’s new season, song and scene selections will be presented by past performers of The Theater Company, including Kelly Nichols, Billy Mitchell, Eric Anderson and others.
