Hoboken cop car booted!

Here’s a rare, if not once-in-a-lifetime sight: A Hoboken cop car with a boot on it!

Not sure what the deal was, or if it was a practical joke as some witnesses presumed, but Car 130 was parked in front of Hoboken Bagels and received the boot!

Seriously, where do the people spouting 75,000 residents get their numbers? There are 40-48,000 tops. Look it up. Well, bradykp already did that for you. I said, I don’t have a problem with the cops. I DO have problem with double standards. Do I expect them to find a legal parking space while they eat? Yes. Do I expect them to find a legal parking space when they are responding to a possible crime? No. Hobodaclown, you really need a reality check. I can see you have a thing for officers, which is fine, but “they park where they want because there [sic] on a job and dealing with one of our quality of life issues.” Are you serious? If that were the case, I would not complain. I am talking about parking whenever, wherever you want because you are in a police vehicle. Or buzzing through traffic lights and stop signs because you are a police officer. Sorry, but police officers should be an example to the rest of us. That was my point. Some, not all, of the police officers have quality of life issues. I have met some very nice police officers. Unfortunately, I have run in to some real jerks. I have lived here for going on 20 years so beleive me I’ve met more than one. My only real complaint – the jerks are in every industry – is that they many (not all) live a double standard. They can break the law, even when… Read more »

since when does hoboken have 75,000 people?

isn’t it more like 40?
The census in 2000 reported the population was just under 39,000.

With all of the development in the past 8 years, there are definitely more people in town but no way there are 75,000 people living here.
i just looked it up and the population in 2000 was 38,577. the estimated population in July 2006 is 39,853….a 3.3% increase. now, i’ve lived here since 2004, and i’ve seen all the development up by shopright near where i lived for the first year, plus all the development near 1st and jefferson and further west….plus all the development with the Maxwell, the new Hudson Tea, and several other smaller buildings. I cannot believe that in 6 years, the city only added 1,324 people. this is from a website http://www.city-data.com/city/Hoboken-New-Jersey.html
So in a town of 75,000 residents and I don’t know how many citizens pass through you have made contact with one of the 180 police officers in town more then once. Your a real upstanding citizen. Maybe they park where they want cause there on a job and dealing with one of our quality of life issues. If they look for a legal parking spot while responding to a call you would complain about there response times. As for when they eat dinner, they only have 15 minutes to eat, during there meal time you want them to park legal and then eat in 15 mins grow up. As far as all cars being ticketed I’m sure it is impossible for 8 or 9 guys that are on a shift and working during there 8 hour tour to respond to calls and ticket eery ilegally parked car in town. Do know the work the cops really do, no listen to the scanner once ina while and the arrest they make and the calls they go on and also the crap they deal with inhouse. Don’t be defensive and think of how hard of a job it must be to solve grown adult problems as well as deal with your own problems and have citizens in the town follow and criticize everything you do….Proud of my police force. Keep up the good work guys and don’t listen to these idiots………
well said. in a town with 75,000+ people in… Read more »
