NJ Nets to honor Seth Dembowitz

3/10/2008 Bump: This Wednesday.

I received notification from Seth Dembowitz’s best friend Michael Burnett that the NJ Nets will be posthumously honoring him with the “Hometown Hero Award” before the Cleveland Cavaliers game on March 12th. Seth passed away in the big fire that took place at 1203 Washington St. late last month.

Burnett, who’s a broadcast manager for the Nets, arranged to have not only discounted tickets available for the game, but proceeds of the sales will be donated to the 243 Foundation to promote fire safety and awareness.

The $36 face value tickets will be available for $25. You can click on the form here to order them, email Ken Dorsett at kdorsett@njnets.com, or call 201-635-3414. If you need additional information, you can also reach out to Burnett at 732-991-2303.

You can read more about the 243 Foundation here.

The Nets are generally pretty good about recognizing people who contribute to the community and so forth. The trouble is, there are usually 6,000 people there. They picked a good night with LeBron in the house.

A nice tribute!
