Irish Party in Hoboken Set for February 10th

The Hoboken St. Patrick’s Parade Committee announced today that their annual Irish Party to benefit the Hoboken St. Patrick’s Parade will be held on Sunday, February 10th from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Our Lady of Grace School Auditorium in Hoboken (Willow Avenue at 5th Street).

The Hoboken Irish Party, which attracts hundreds of people from all over New Jersey each year, is renowned for its delicious corned beef dinner, great music and packed dance floor. This year’s party will once again feature the rollicking sounds of “Round the House,” a crowd-pleasing Irish band known for its ability to mix lively Irish music with danceable standards and pop tunes.

“The Irish Party on February 10th is our only fundraising event. That’s why it’s important for everyone who enjoys and supports our parade to come on out for this great evening of fun, food, music and dancing,” said Bill Coughlin, Public Relations Director for the Parade Committee. Tickets for the Irish Party are $50 each and include dinner, an open bar and dancing. They can be purchased in advance at Mulligan’s, Nag’s Head Pub, Willie McBride’s, and The Quiet Woman, all in Hoboken, or email the committee at

“The Irish Party also provides the committee with the opportunity to introduce our 2008 Grand Marshall and other honorees. This year our Grand Marshall is Richard England, Business Administrator for the City of Hoboken and Irishwoman of the Year is Eileen O’Connor Farinola, a veteran volunteer with many community and charitable organizations. Additionally, there will be a special recognition for former State Senate Majority Leader Bernard F. Kenny Jr.

“The Parade will be held on Saturday, March 1st at one o’clock. It’s our twenty-first year and it promises to be bigger and better than ever. There will be more bands, pipers and marchers than ever before, and we’re expecting record crowds to line Washington Street on parade day,” Coughlin added.

The committee has also made arrangements for a special St. Patrick’s Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church to take place at 5:00 PM on Saturday, February 23rd (400 Willow Ave).

This committee is putting on an event for Hoboken. Will it not be bringing in revenue for the city? (albeit with tickets, fines and crazy drunks, but revenues just the same). Since when did our city give a crap about where the money’s coming from?

I can’t wait to see how many idiots get ticked this year for drinking & pissing in the streets. I hope they double the fines.

so how much does the city charge the committee for these services?
how much does the City charge you for Police service and Street cleaning and the green stripe? because if they aren’t charging your committee then tax dollars are going towards the parade.
S.T. Don’t worry Hoboken always gets theirs. I hear they are going to jack up the price of the tickets again….

Oh Great! A Party! I’m going to have a “Grand Time Of It!”
