Jimmy John’s coming to 96 Hudson St. in Hoboken, NJ
4/10/2014 Update:
This could be tremendous news for sandwich lovers in Hoboken – Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches is coming to 96 Hudson Street in June. This is the former location of the doomed Energy Kitchen, who couldn’t survive dishing out 500 calorie war rations as meals.
One business in town which should be shivering in their pants – is Subway. Because Subway just sucks. Sad looking “pre-sliced” meats sitting out all day is just not a good business model anymore. They’ll have to go down to $2 foot-longs to keep customers, and even then they’d go out of business soon as well. So I’m leaning towards “Subway is doomed” (at least one of their two locations).
Anyway, Jimmy John’s is apparently one of the fastest growing franchises in the country, and fans rave about their sandwiches (and bread). This will be the first Jimmy John’s within 20 miles of Hoboken, and the seventh in New Jersey. Here’s a snippit about them:
“What makes Jimmy John’s different from the rest is that it’s honest, it’s damn good, it’s damn fast, at a decent price! Jimmy John’s definition of fresh is worlds apart from everyone else’s. Bread is baked in-house everyday and served fresh. Meat and veggies are sliced fresh in-house everyday. The turkey is real turkey, the roast beef is real roast beef – no additives, no vegetable-based fillers, no fake stuff. Nothing is delivered pre-sliced. Real Hellmann’s mayo, real Grey Poupon, real olive oil and red wine vinegar – it’s the best of the best.”
Now do you believe me that Subway will be “on the ropes?”
We’ll check back later this summer to see if they hold true on their promises…
Oh, and they have online ordering and “apps” to keep you thinking about food 24/7.
Don’t care how good this is, we’ll always support local shops like Ultramarinos and Biancamanos first.
Vito’s and Lisa’s all the way! And for great Italian subs Torna’s Pizzaria.
CEO Jimmy John himself enjoys going on safaris to Africa and killing elephants and leopards and other beautiful creatures just for sport. DISGUSTING. Do not support this man.
Awesome! I’ll definitely support a man who is a real man! I love hunting!
CEO Jimmy John himself enjoys going on safaris to Africa and killing elephants and leopards and other beautiful creatures just for sport. DISGUSTING. Do not support this man.
For sport? Sheesh….at least he could supply the restaurants. Think of the tag line possibilities. For starters…
“The Cat’s in the Kettle at the Peking Moon, but we have a leopard in the larder.”
Or something.

I’ve had JJ. Its ok. The big problem for them is they are coming into a town loaded with amazing delis that make out of this world sandwiches. Even the Blimpie is the best of the Blimpie’s. Our 10th best sandwich shop (whatever that is…matter of opinion) is better than the best sandwich shop in 99% of America.
Good luck to them.
Obummacare Opponent? I’ll go there twice as much once they open! Hot diggity dog!
