This is definitely a growing trend in Hoboken!
Another stress relief parlor in town
Taking the place of the previous Bridge Boutique / About a Girl location at 636 Washington Street is “Chinese Special Touch” massage. Mind you, the guys that told me the name said they weren’t the owners, just workers – so the actual name might have been lost in translation.
Description: The sign simply says “Back rubs” and “Foot Rubs” Address: 636 Washington St., Hoboken, NJ 07030 Phone: TBD
Learn all about the potential danger of Vaccinations – at NINE (333 Washington St.) – Sunday, April 26th at 4pm.
The New Jersey Senate and Assembly are taking a close look at the Conscientious Exemption to Mandatory Immunization, Assembly bill #260 and Senate bill #1071. Pressured by an increasing number of parents and citizens concerned about the health risks of too many shots being forced on their children by the state, New Jersey legislators are at the center of a national debate that is not going away. “Vaccination is one of the most significant health decisions that parents make on behalf of their children,” says Louise Kuo Habakus, a Middletown resident, leading member of the New Jersey Coalition for Vaccination Choice, (NJCVC), and a parent of two vaccine-injured children.
On Sunday, April 26th, at 4pm, Nine Lounge in Hoboken, NJ, will host Habakus who will lead a seminar on informed consent in vaccination. The seminar, entitled “A Vaccination Seminar: What Choices Do Parents Have?” is designed to help educate New Jersey residents on the choices available to them when making informed vaccination decisions.
Here’s another catchy commercial I’d like to share with you – it’s for McDonald’s Sweet Tea.
I dig the “Back in the Day Song” by Know One (on iTunes too) – however the song was re-recorded for McDonald’s (and improved quite a bit over the original).
Other than that – the overall vibe of the commercial is sentimental, and kinda puts me in a good mood. Maybe I’ll try a Sweet Tea and see if it has the same effect on me.
Note: McDonald’s only lists nutrition info for the “child” (90 cal) and “small” sizes (120 cal) – so I’m presuming this giant cup is 32oz. and about 240 calories.
Have any of you tried it yet? How about the song? Good beat, eh?
Can’t guess? Well, the answer is Hudson County’s born and raised Jim Rotolo!
This busy and innovative guy is a producer at Sirius, works at the Tavern as a waiter/bartender and stars in a new Off-broadway show as yes, you guessed it, a bartender! Art imitates life. If you would like to see this Hudson County renaissance man in action – this Friday is your chance! Crazy Sexy Disco will be performing at the D-Lounge of the Daryl Roth Theater in Union Square on Friday April 3rd at 10:30pm (101 E. 15th St. at Union Square) Advance tickets can be purchased for $20.
About Crazy Sexy Disco
“Crazy Sexy Disco” is a new type of interactive dance show that emerges at a time where we can fall back in love with sequins, afros and dancing the night away! The show is an hour and fifteen minute trip into the disco nightlife including interactive stories of love triangles, 70’s trivia and fond memories of “the good life.” (Elizabeth Barry, EB Associates and Gendance) Nine dancers, one vocalist and Jim (Bartender/Jimbo Smiley) entertain audiences with an unforgettable night. (Did we mention there are roller-skates and a disco fairy?)
The show appeals to the generations that lived through the disco era and warmly welcomes new audiences to this full-scale production.
Charging up the East Coast, Crazy Sexy Disco was booked for New Year’s Eve 2009 at Boogie Nights, one of Atlantic City’s hottest nightclubs. The show is produced, directed and choreographed by leading artists Jen James, Liz Piccoli and Svea Schneider. For more information, to book the show or buy tickets, please visit www.crazysexydisco.com or contact Liz Piccoli at 201.245.2015 or crazysexydisco@yahoo.com. Crazy Sexy Disco is also available for private and corporate bookings.

Reach out and touch someone
By Andrew B.
One of my favorite ad campaigns of the ‘80s is now a call to action in the new millennium.
Picking up the phone to “reach out and touch someone” has morphed into typing and texting, and ultimately avoiding face-to-face social interaction. As my mother so often points out, there are twenty different ways for her reach me but I still don’t call enough (I don’t). I have four email addresses, a BlackBerry for work, a personal cell phone, and two computers on which I regularly instant message. But I am one of the few of my generation who can still say that I am not an active member of Facebook, Myspace or Twitter! Heresy, I know. We have more means of communication than previous civilizations could ever have imagined, yet we are really more disconnected from one another than ever.
