Live Blog: Halloween Police Action

10/31/2008:

Let’s see what transpires tonight!

Live Blogging Halloween in Hoboken

Last night’s “Mischief Night” live blog – wasn’t filled with as much mayhem as many of us suspected (it was really just an “experiment” – another way of live blogging on Hoboken411).

So tonight – the same live chat will appear. This time – not for the “mischief,” but for the potentially funny incident reports that air over the Hoboken411 Live Police and Fire Action Channel.

I recall in years past – funny descriptions of what transpired when revelers in full costume had too much to drink. Gorillas assaulting warrior princesses, stuff like that (use your imagination). While the HPD is just doing their job – It seems as if the comical nature of the calls make it a bit more bearable for them.

So check back here around 8pm or so… I’ll be hanging out with friends – but will be tuned in to the radio – and will update the live blog with any noteworthy (or funny) incidents.

ALSO: If you happen to have pictures of the day/night – send them in – and they’ll appear in the live blog during the night.

[Continuing the Hoboken411 "Photo of the Day" series...]

Hoboken Photo of the Day – 10/31/2008

I happen to like the contrasting sky – and the color of the foliage! The background may not be all that nice – but hey! It’s still Hoboken!

PS – if you have images collecting dust on your camera or hard drive – send them in for eventual inclusion on Hoboken411! Please state how you’d like to be credited in your email, and a description – if desired!!

    10/31/2008:

Just got this email from a resident who was shocked to open their property tax bill this week:

    hoboken-property-tax-bill-shock.jpg

    Blindsided by the bill

“i hope and pray the wave of discontent toward our legislators extends to hoboken city government.

i just received my tax bill today and it’s $1,000 more THIS QUARTER than it was before.

there was no note or letter attached to the bill explaining anything.

this is outrageous. i feel completely blindsided. but i have myself to blame.

i am ordinarily quite cynical when it comes to politics. so when my city council person, beth mason, promised to lower taxes through a more transparent system, i thought, okay, lets give her a shot.

    shame on me.”

    10/31/2008 Update/Review:

Myself and a Hoboken411 reader swung by The Kebab House (62 Newark St.) this week – to form our own opinions on the new late night Mediterranean eatery.

    10/31/2008:

Personal fears come in many shapes and sizes. Some folks are claustrophobic, others have stage fright, the fear of drowning and a myriad of other reasons.

What are your greatest fears or phobias?

AMC is having a video contest called “Your Greatest Fear,” where contestants enter their one-minute video clip – and stand a chance to win $4,000 and have their entry shown during Fear Week in 2009.

Hoboken’s Tim Mattson enters the contest

Hoboken resident Tim Mattson submitted this creepy video of getting stuck in a drain pipe. Knowing Hoboken’s potholes and car-swallowing roads – he might have a good reason to be afraid!

If you like the video – be sure to vote for him!
