Here’s an interesting viewpoint from 411 reader Dan, who sent this in a few days ago. He notices that things can actually get done in Hoboken!
Hoboken411,
Around 3 last night a resident in the area of 8th and Garden called police reporting 2 males trying to break into a vehicle. When the police responded, they found an SUV with a broken front window.
Based on the description by the witness, police located several young men a few blocks away in the Willow Terrace area. One was found to be carrying a GPS device holder taken from the vehicle, and another was found with the GPS receiver itself.
The “yoofs” were identified by the witness as the same ones she saw breaking in to the vehicle, and arrests were made.

Sneak a Peek at Hoboken’s Best Backyards on Hoboken Historical Museum’s 10th Annual Secret Garden Tour
Tucked away behind Hoboken’s 19th century brownstones and converted factory buildings are backyard spaces that are testaments to gardeners’ creativity and determination to stay in touch with nature in an urban setting. On Sunday, June 3, eight homeowners will share their “secret gardens” and their secret gardening tips as part of the Tenth Annual Secret Garden Tour, presented by the Hoboken Historical Museum, with support from the Hoboken Garden Club.
This year’s “Secret Garden” tour will include a wide range of garden designs by both dedicated amateur gardeners and professional designers, with clever solutions to challenging issues such as soil depth and shade. One garden features a patio with a checkerboard pattern of alternating tile and grass (actually, a low-maintenance alternative called SYNLawn);
others feature koi ponds, raised flower beds and even vegetable gardens. One of the previous secret gardens was featured in Better Homes & Garden magazine.
Gardening in Hoboken has a rich tradition, as Colonel John Stevens (1749 – 1838), who founded Hoboken, was a garden enthusiast, importing and cultivating new plants from all around the world. He’s credited with introducing to America the Chrysanthemum and the Camellia. His gardens were highly regarded as some of the most elaborate and scientifically cultivated of the day.

Until recently, I had the time to post many more incidents from the scanner, but have been hard at work on other projects.
Many accidents, incidents, and other reports have been absent from 411.
at 11:36pm tonight, a minor auto accident at 10th and & Willow was reported. No injuries. However, you can be sure it was the lack of visibility and speeding lunatics that caused this one.
Some kind of large fight taking place near 10 Church Towers around the 4th and Clinton St. area.
Many police units dispatched. A car window was reported to be smashed and part of this incident.
Anyone in the area?
Here it is in action this past weekend.
In case you decide to be the next person to fall into the Hudson, these guys may be the ones to help.
