Today, at approximately 4:15pm a driver of a late model Honda Subaru (thanks) crashed into a motocycle driver on 1st and Washington.

Immediate witness accounts indicate that the driver was on her cell phone and had her vehicle filled with crap and her field of vision was poor. Talk about “fault”.

We’ll see what happens. More details to follow.

One of the pleasurable things that happens in Hoboken on a weekend like the one that just ended was the peace and quiet that existed!

Parking spots. No lines at the bars or restaurants. Not over-crowded at all.

Don't get me wrong, there were still people out, roof-top parties to be had, and the same amount of fun; but just easier to manage. NYC was incredibly nice and quiet as well, even though it was Fleet Week too!

But look at this shot of Washington Street at 2:30 on Saturday. It was freaky:

There were seats available at the outdoor bars. Here's a Husky laying in a pile of ice at Farside. Looked like a fun place to chill:
    Farside Ice dog.JPG

Still people came out. The parks and piers had plenty of people who were enjoying the weather.

One thing is that the buzz seemed to die down the minute you wandered off Washington. Take a look at Anthony David's during lunch:

I for one, hope that it stays like this for the remainder of the summer. I highly doubt it, as this was indeed a holiday weekend as well.

We'll report back to see what it's like during the upcoming weekends.

What was your experience this weekend?

  • Vehicular Vandalism - On the rise?

    27

    May

smashedwindshield.jpgIt seems the trend of vandalism to random cars in Hoboken is on the rise. In the last week, there have been over 10 incidents that we're aware of, most likely more. From side-view mirrors, to windshields, to soft-tops, it's happening at an alarming rate.

What is the reason? Miscellaneous crime? Gang initiation? Heavy-set drunks who can't walk straight? Has anything happened to you and your car recently? Do you know of anyone that has had this occur?

If you don't get around the whole town top to bottom, left to right you might lose track of what's happening.

Remember that wall that surrounded the Maxwell Place project ? Well that came down and now the view is different. When the other 4 buildings go up, you may not need sunscreen in Hoboken anymore.
