Business as usual in Hoboken this week. A little light on the legal expenditures, some Pier A Park bonding, Judge appointments, etc.

The Pier 13 fate might be decided as well.

Enjoy!

City wants to allow noisy construction on SATURDAYS!

Most agenda items are business as usual – except one particular item of note: The Zimmer administration brought forward a resolution to allow Pearson Education to perform nearly full-time construction for their property along the waterfront (in between the J.Wiley Building and the W Hotel). This resolution was originally intended to be heard tonight – but instead was moved to the May 15th Council Meeting. My guess why? They need to do more research to find some legal loopholes or precedents so their “case” is stronger.

Pearson Education wants to disturbe Hoboken NJ neighbors six days a week

Regardless, Pearson is crying because they’re “behind schedule” on the project, and that it’s in danger of violating their lease agreement with SJP. So because of their own mismanagement of this project, they’re looking for a “construction time” bailout from the city, and request to build full-time on Saturdays as well.

Why the administration would even entertain this is beyond belief. The stated code already prohibits this – and no resolution was necessary – unless, of course, the city has already agreed behind the scenes that they want to allow it. This would be a hindrance to the quality of life for residents in the area.

If Pearson cannot meet their contractual end of the agreement, knowing full well what the construction laws are in Hoboken, then too bad. Find another city to relocate to. Then SJP can find another tenant. It shouldn’t be on the shoulders of the community to endure the annoyances of six-day a week construction noise.

If this eventually gets passed, then it sets a precedent to allow for Saturday construction CITY WIDE. Let’s hope they just withdraw their request entirely!

Same script as always (moolah & $$$), different actors (law firms, bonding, payout recipients). Item of note this week is how the city illegally cheated many retired civil service workers out of their retirement / pension money. Always something in this city.

Business as usual this week again (legal contracts, bonding, etc.) A few million to “rebuild” Pier A Park which has bricks starting to sink down.

One thing of note Danny Tattoli’s steakhouse downtown at 61 Jackson Street looks like it’s back on – but not after the city raped them for will receive about $17,000 a year because they built a few feet over the line. That “steakhouse” was originally supposed to be part of the SW6 Park plan. But the city “lost it.”

FBI back at Hoboken City Hall!

Patrick Ricciardi pleads guilty

Patrick Ricciardi Pleads Guilty Hoboken NJFormer management information systems specialist for the city of Hoboken pleaded guilty today for intercepting communications meant for the mayor of Hoboken and top city officials and passing some of those communications on to other officials, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

Patrick Ricciardi, 46, of Hoboken, entered a guilty plea – before U.S. District Judge Esther Salas in Newark federal court – to an Information charging him with accessing a computer without authorization, interception of wire and electronic communications and disclosure of intercepted wire and electronic communications.

According to the documents filed in this case and statements made in court:

Ricciardi was a longstanding employee of the city of Hoboken and worked as the chief information technology officer for the mayor’s office. As part of his job duties, Ricciardi was responsible for keeping the city’s network running and had access to email accounts within the city’s computer system and other aspects of the city’s computer network.

In April 2011, Ricciardi created an archive file on his work computer to intercept and store all emails sent to and from the mayor and certain of the mayor’s employees. Neither the mayor nor any other city employee authorized the storage of the emails or the creation of the file.

During his guilty plea proceeding, Ricciardi admitted he used his access to set up the email accounts of the mayor and two of the mayor’s top lieutenants so all of their incoming and sent emails would be sent to the archive folder.

He also admitted that he read some of the emails in order to spy on the mayor and her assistants, and forwarded them to other current and former city officials.

Ricciardi is scheduled to be sentenced on July 1, 2013, before Judge Salas. Each of the three counts carries a maximum potential penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

U.S. Attorney Fishman praised special agents of the FBI’s Cyber Crimes Task Force, under the direction of Acting Special Agent in Charge David Velazquez, for the investigation leading to today’s guilty plea.

The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zach Intrater of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property Section in the Office’s Economic Crimes Unit in Newark.
