From a Hoboken411 reader who was burglarized this week:

Garden Street Burglary
“I just wanted to throw this out there because it sounds strikingly similar to a post by a reader on 2/6/08 from 2nd and Adams.
My apartment was robbed on June 18. Just like the other reader, my unit’s door was opened using a crowbar or something similar. Taken was my large, flat-screen TV, satellite radio receiver, laptop computer, iPod Nano, cufflinks, a watch, and a strongbox. My Sentry strongbox was purchased to keep things safe in the event of a fire but obviously someone could just walk away with it and try to open it later on. In that were a bunch of vital papers confirming my identity, college and high school rings and other insignificants that were near and dear to me. They also took my bedroom comforter, which was beige and black and probably just used it to wrap up the stolen goods.
Someone entered the building between 6:30am and 9:30pm (hours I was at work). It probably happened late morning, according to the HPD. The front door to our building has a great lock that has only 1 design flaw, the door must be closed! We’ve been having problems with the door sticking lately and chances are someone left without closing the door completely behind them. I feel that I was targeted specifically because there are 7 other units in my building and no one else was hit. Our building has had some construction work done within the last few months and although I hate pointing fingers, it seems that maybe someone cased the joint then. But then again, maybe they just got lucky.
I am reaching out to the community to see if anyone else has had a similar burglary since the one in February on Adams. It may be the same person or it could be just a coincidence. If anyone sees anything I described above on the street or with a fence, I’d appreciate it if you responded to this post or contacted Hoboken411, if they would offer their services.
Seeing as Garden Street is somewhat busy so I am hoping someone saw something. Chances are they looked like a couple of movers doing things in a hurry so people probably paid little attention to them. But please, if you saw someone moving a TV on Garden Street between 8th and 9th on Wednesday, June 18, please let me know. Or if you come across a tossed strongbox on the street, I’d appreciate you coming forward. Rewards will be offered. The HPD is doing their part as well. Thanks.”
