Test your memory. Where WAS this sign - and about when do you think it it was removed?

Hoboken411 reader estevens sent in this photo from 1986! Anyone recall where it was? The only 96 XXX numbered address with Tuesday 2pm street cleaning is Garden St. - but I have no idea whether they’ve changed those rules in the past 20 years.

“Here’s a photo taken in 1986 when Hoboken still had witch doctors with storefronts. What really caught my eye, however, was the No Parking sign in front. The sign sets an eight-hour limit for parking between 9am and 5pm. Is it possible to exceed eight hours within that time frame? Were there time-shifters in Hoboken 22 years ago?”

I’ve mentioned before that I sometimes mismanage the photos I take for some reason, and can “lose” quite a few. The sheer amount of Hoboken-related information I mentally ingest daily would cause most regular folks to implode. Luckily for the rest of you - I forge ahead!
Here’s a picture I found of a group of fun people with their cell phones over at Hudson Tavern (14th & Hudson) exactly a year ago. Holy crap! Those phones are ancient! Most people I see these days have either a Blackberry or iPhone (or some other kind of text/keyboard phone).
A perfect caption for this photo (if it were taken today), would be “What are those?”

Hoboken411 reader Deb sent in a few pictures of some great relics found when she moved into her apartment. How about that?
Hoboken411 reader photos of the day - 1/4/2009
“So we moved into this apartment about three years ago (in February, 2006). And we were lucky enough to come across some neat little treasures which seem to have been abandoned in our garage. The first shot depicts a small box filled with buttons and old toys, while the second and third shots display a practically ancient yet beautiful photo album!”

The Holidays are over - and Christmas trees are now peppering the sidewalks all over Hoboken. I happen to like this mini-tree that was standing all alone on Grand Street last night. I have a feeling that the family that had this tree exchanged a lot of gift certificates this year.

Hoboken411 reader Claus sent in this picture of what Elysian Cafe looked like on the inside just before the renovation that took place several years ago (was a “gate sale”).
