Eli Manning Way?

2/6/2008:
I heard about this yesterday, but forgot to post it.
The Giants Football Blog mentioned that Mayor Roberts and the City were considering naming a street after Eli Manning, or the Giants, or something along those lines.
I’m ecstatic the Giants won the best Super Bowl ever, but does Eli deserve a street named after him? In Hoboken?
What are your thoughts? I’ve heard various opinions ranging from: “He’s not a permanent resident here” to “We have bigger problems to worry about” to “Why not, what harm can it cause?”

Eli Drive has a nice ring to it
Mayor David Roberts of Hoboken, N.J., said that the city is kicking around the idea of renaming a city street after New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, a Hoboken resident.
But residents are divided on the idea, with some saying Manning’s leading one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history and being named MVP doesn’t justify such an action.
“Kudos to him, but it’s not worth renaming the street,” Marcia Pribylovsky said.
Kinga Burke, a resident in the building where Manning lives, was also opposed.
“Just because he lives in town?” she said. “I think it’s too much, it’s ridiculous. He’s not a historical person.”

At no point this week will Eli Manning grab himself a cold one, kick back in a lounge chair at poolside and announce how his team is guaranteed to shock Football America come next Sunday.
